Meeting of major boat shows in Miami
If they will not take place in 2021, the Miami International Boat Show (MIBS), the Miami Yacht Show (MYS) and the Miami Superyacht are preparing for the future. Usually organized in parallel in the capital of Florida by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) for the MIBS and Informa Markets for the 2 others, they will be united under the same banner from 2022, the organizers announced. Informa Markets, the world's leading event organiser, will be responsible for organising the boat show, with the association of American boating professionals retaining ownership of MIBS and a strategic role. The partnership is the fruit of a discussion that has been going on for a long time according to the two players. The difficult situation due to the Covid-19 crisis and the cancellation of boat shows, leading to heavy losses and layoffs at Informa Markets and NMMA, has probably accelerated the process. The partnership is being extended to other boat shows in Florida: Tampa Boat Show, St. Petersburg Power and Sailboat Show, and Suncoast Boat Show.
Facilitate visits and organization of nautical professionals
At the Miami Boat Show scheduled for February 16-20, 2022, the afloat boat shows will be grouped in a nearby geographic area around Sea Isle Marina, Watson Island and One Herald Plaza. The Miami Beach Convention Center will host the indoor exhibits. It will also host the Miami Dealer Days in advance of the show. In addition to reducing the cost of the event for both show organizers and exhibitors, the new configuration should simplify the itinerary for boaters.
