Grouping of yachting equipment manufacturers on Performance Spirit
7 French companies, leaders in their fields of equipment for sailing yachts intended for travel, ocean racing and sports sailing, have announced the joint launch of the performance-spirit.com website. The routing software supplier Adrena, the fittings specialist Karver, the on-board computer specialist ROM-arrangé, the marine electrician TEEM, the on-board safety equipment supplier Plastimo and the power generation and hydrogenerator expert Watt&Sea have joined forces on a common portal to promote their products and innovations.
From the boat show to the website
If its current translation is digital, the origin of Performance Spirit is indeed physical. "The genesis of the story comes from a joint attempt to create a small salon in Lorient with these 7 companies. Our aim was to attract new prospects and pool our energies. It was planned for November 2020. The hall was reserved for the Cité de la Voile, boats were to be there for the demonstrations. With Covid-19, everything was cancelled. We wanted to keep the momentum going and the easiest thing to do was to create a site," explains Paul Fraisse, head of the electronics engineer from Lorient, Nke.
Giving a consistent response to the boater
These equipment manufacturers affirm it: "Our dynamism is nourished by our exchanges and is transmitted in our advice to our customers with the common objective of performance, safety and reliability" For the yachtsman arriving through a supplier, he can discover the other brands while being confident about the compatibility and future collaboration of the partners. "There is no one-stop shop or referent, but the assurance of a consistent response to the customer. This is also true for follow-up. In the Vendée Globe, we work together to respond to the skippers' problems," summed up Paul Fraisse.
A sustainable initiative
Performance Spirit does not have a concrete legal framework at the moment, neither as an association nor an EIG. However, the dynamic should not stop there. "Today is a first draft to see how people perceive the initiative. We would like to get together in the same area in future shows. We will then see the developments" concludes the nke manager.
