A non-abrasive anti-slip for boats
Harken has introduced its new anti-slip, the Harken Marine Grip. It comes in the form of a self-adhesive film. The American rigging specialist claims a non-abrasive product, while remaining solid and effective. "We've been quiet at the launch, waiting for feedback from tests on different boats, but sportsmen are delighted with the performance of Marine Grip. Jonathan Lobert (editor's note: bronze medalist at the London 2012 Olympic Games in Finn and in preparation for the Tokyo Olympics) tested it on his Finn. He is very happy. Before, he used skateboard grip, but it spoiled everything. Now, it doesn't damage the tips or the sails and the grip is very good. A light and reversible alternative to anti-skid paint
The other advantage of Harken Marine Grip, according to its manufacturer, is its implementation. It is proposed in the form of hexagonal patches of 8cm of side or rectangular of a width of 5 com to 15,2 cm for 30,5 cm length and in rolls for the larger surfaces. "The installation is easy and it doesn't peel off, it's really durable. And compared to paint, it's not permanent. It can be changed, possibly just a patch if needed" explains Pierre Massé.
A market in regatta and aftermarket
The thinness of the film guarantees a minimal weight to the anti-slip, which seduces the competitors. "The Harken Marine Grip meets a problematic in the race, considering the feedback of the skippers on our tests. It can be used on racing cruisers or aluminum RIBs. But it can also be used on stairs or even swimming pools. And in price, we are well placed, compared to the solutions currently used" concludes the director of the operations of Harken France.
