The Boot shifted in April 2021
The organizers of the Boot Düsseldorf Boat Show, Europe's largest indoor boat show, have announced the postponement of the 2021 edition. Instead of being held as is the tradition in January, the event will take place from 17 to 25 April 2021. Its CEO, Wolfram Diener, after consulting with exhibitors, explains this choice by the uncertainty about the health situation in Europe and the world at the beginning of winter. "This is due to the current level of infection, the ongoing restrictions on travel and the legal measures in force which currently do not allow exhibitions to be held. The statements of many experts have led us to believe that it is highly likely that the situation will calm down in European countries by the spring of 2021."
By anticipating the announcement, the organisers should, in their opinion, allow exhibitors to get organised to prepare the show and the transport of the boats for the new dates. Exhibitors' registrations remain valid. They also hope to catch the yachtsmen organizing their nautical holidays at the last minute.
A calendar of busy boat shows
While the calendar of boat shows is particularly dense at the international level, the postponement of Boot Düsseldorf is shaking up the organisation of the sector. The traditional spring boat shows could suffer as a result. The Salon International du Multicoque de la Grande-Motte, announced for 7 to 11 April 2021, could suffer from the shadow of the German heavyweight, like other smaller local boat shows, both from the point of view of visitors and exhibitors, who are constrained by logistics.
