The marina manager, Port Adhoc has bought the Breiz Marine shipyard in Paimpol. An opportunity to test new services and increase its capacities. Sébastien Capitaine, head of the port, explains the objectives of the project.

Port Adhoc takes over the Breiz Marine shipyard

Established in Paimpol since 2005 through its historic dry port activity, the Port Adhoc Group, also at the head of 6 other marinas and 3 other dry ports, has acquired its first shipyard. The company buys its neighbour Breiz Marine. "There was this purchase opportunity, as Antoine Delmotte wanted to sell his business to move on to other professional projects. And on our side, we were running out of space" explains Sébastien Capitaine, Port Adhoc Paimpol harbour master, who will now also manage the shipyard activity. All of the teams, a salesman and a marine mechanic, have been retained.

Increasing dry port capacity

The acquisition of Breiz Marine will increase the land of Port Adhoc in Paimpol from 7,000 m² to 13,000 m². Initially with 236 berths, the dry port will be able to accommodate 120 additional boats for onshore storage. "We are also going to add a 45-place rack in 2021. A new forklift has been ordered. With 4 launching tractors, we will double our launching capacity, which is very important in Paimpol with the tide. In post-confinement, we launched 1240 boats in 40 days" explains Sébastien Capitaine.

The port will also be able to accommodate larger boats and open up to new clients, such as sailing boats up to 16 metres.

Offer all inclusive packages to the yachtsman

By acquiring its first shipyard, Port Adhoc also wishes to test new offers with yachtsmen. Purchase, equipment, insurance, parking, maintenance, winter storage, rental management, or even deposit-sale, Port Adhoc Paimpol wants to become its unique contact for the customer who wishes it. The yard will keep its Mercury, Gala, Brig, Technohull and Vanguard dealer cards. "We will be able to offer all-inclusive packages, with mechanical maintenance or insurance for customers who wish to do so. Paimpol is a sort of pilot site to test these activities within Port Adhoc" concludes Sébastien Capitaine.
