Yachting, the first beneficiary of the Port Vauban works
Port Vauban must change its face in the years to come. The 3 phase project is to be spread over 10 years and represents an investment of 135 Meuros. Symbol of the Port of Antibes, the Quai des Milliardaires, which has already seen some works over the last few years, will see their rhythm accelerated. The obtaining of building permits for the eastern dyke area will allow the launch of operations from the end of 2020. The International Yacht Club of Antibes will be completely rebuilt. A crew centre is to be created to welcome the crews. Each yacht will have a space opposite its berth on land, integrated into the rampart, for technical work and the catering of guests.
A redesigned area for boating professionals
The next phase of the project will begin in 2022. The space under the Fort Carré, which will be used by nautical professionals, will be redesigned. For its operation and that of the careening area, a call for tenders for a public service sub-delegation has been launched. The 16,000 m² area will notably host a craftsmen's village with the various specialities of nautical and yachting, as well as a catering area. Public access to the careening area for pleasure boats under 16 metres will be provided. "The idea is to give public access to this area under the Fort Carré and to offer better conditions to professionals" explains Delphine Lesieur from the Port Vauban communication department.
Port Center and Yachting Technopole
With the Anse St-Roch car parks now underground, the area should accommodate the port's administrative services, while the lookout would remain in the current harbour master's office. Coworking areas for nautical professionals will be proposed. By 2023, the emergence of the Technopole du Yachting project will be facilitated by the offices of the port centre. "These will be spaces for exchange between enterprises, for training. It is a demand from the enterprises already present in the sector" Delphine Lesieur explains.
Revision of amendments
December 2021 will mark the end of the existing amodiations for yachtsmen in Port Vauban. The manager has made public the marketing methods for its 1642 berths, from 5 to 170 metres, after this date. Users who are able to take part in the new works in the port will be able to benefit for some of them from a 10 or 21 year guarantee of use contract. The rest of the yachtsmen will be offered an annual or long-term rental contract (summer or winter).
