Call to professionals for innovative beaches

Oleron Island Beach, New Aquitaine

The New Aquitaine Region is launching a call for ideas called Innovation Plages. The community wants to think about the future of nautical and seaside activities in the light of the post-Covid19 economic and health context.

Call for Ideas Innovation Beaches

With its many kilometres of beaches, the New Aquitaine Region is concerned about the future development of coastal activities. To this end, the community is launching a call for ideas called Innovation Plages. As part of the plan to revive the tourism sector entitled "Tourisme Lab", this is the first concrete action taken by the Regional Development and Innovation Agency and the GIP Littoral. In particular, it targets the following issues:

  • The emergence of new services related to transport, information and purchasing within the seaside town
  • Reinventing beach uses in the context of the COVID crisis19 and thereafter
  • Manage pressure and crowding on beaches linked to local urban audiences. To measure in real time the frequentation
  • Reflect on the socio-economic model in relation to the beaches of New Aquitaine to ensure sustainable use of the ecosystem.

Environment, safety and health issues are obviously at the heart of the organisers' expectations, who are evoking the ideas of zero waste beaches or drowning risk management.

Practical information

The call for ideas is open to private companies, start-ups, but also associations, communities, technology centres and clusters established in New Aquitaine.

Proposals must be submitted by 16 October 2020.

No financial envelope is involved, but the projects identified will be "channelled to appropriate and pre-existing financial arrangements".
