For several years now, Plastimo "broadens its customer base. Historically aimed at boaters, this manufacturer from Lorient is opening up to new practices. In keeping with the brand's DNA, which is first and foremost the safety of sailors, the catalog now includes products for kayaking, white-water rafting and even longe-côte. Not only in the sea, but also in freshwater.
The Australian clothing brand Zhik has also taken a similar approach, investing in the sailing segments for sports enthusiasts and competitive sailors. This manufacturer develops specific, specialized products, often setting the benchmark in their field. Zhik clothing is highly technical and high-performance. It is aimed at all sailors who want the garment that will best protect them without hindering them in their practice.
Plastimo now distributes Zhik in France and Belgium
With distribution available for France and Belgium, it was a natural step to team up with Plastimo. Plastimo has already made a commitment to Zhik for the 2021 collection, and will have almost the entire Zhik range in stock in its Lorient warehouse at the beginning of the year, to deliver to shipchandlers before Spring. More than 650 new items will be added to the French equipment manufacturer's catalog. And if certain references are not in stock, it will be possible to obtain them to order.
Big names sail Zhik
Intended for sport sailing, the distribution of Zhik does not call into question the development of the Activ' range, which Plastimo has been developing for the past 2 years. Indeed, Activ' jackets and pants are designed for cruising use, whereas Zhik garments are intended more for competitors.
Always ready to listen to its users, Zhik is counting on Plastimo's location, at the heart of the Pole Course au Large and very close to the racers, to help them develop their product in the future. Many crews are already using their products, and a number of high-profile ambassadors will be racing under Zhik's colors. These include Alex Thomson in the Vendée Globe, figarist Pierre Leboucher, winner of the recent Dhream Cup, and Quentin Delapierre and Manon Audinet, the French Nacra 17 crew selected for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
