A non-profit Monaco Yacht Show 2020
In a joint press release, the Principality of Monaco and Informa, the company in charge of organising the Monaco Yacht Show (MYS), set out the framework for the 2020 edition of the event. Confirming the holding of the annual yachting event in Port Hercules between 23rd and 26th September 2020, they announced an "intimate and non-profit-making" edition. It will obviously adapt to the sanitary requirements of such an event following the Covid19 crisis. The technical details, still under discussion, will be made public in the coming weeks. According to its promoters, MYS 2020 will be "an invaluable platform for designers, brokers, shipyards and other key players in the yachting industry to be in contact with their clients and share ideas in a safe environment".
Participate in the revival of the nautical industry and respond to criticism
Informa and the Monegasque authorities explain their new choice of organisation by their willingness to support the yacht and superyacht industry. "As we move to the other side of the pandemic, the entire industry must work collaboratively to ensure a rapid restart and recovery. We are fulfilling our role by hosting a not-for-profit Monaco Yacht Show 2020, providing an opportunity for the community to come together, share ideas, meet clients and begin to rebuild positive momentum," said Charlie McCurdy, Director of Informa Markets. Without quoting directly from the manufacturer associations behind the sling, the organisers' press release sounds like a response to the boycott announced by the major players in the yachting industry .
