METS Trade Celebrates Nautical Innovation
As every year, the professionals of the world's marine industry met at the METS Trade show. This was the occasion for the jury of the DAME Awards, the most famous nautical innovation competition in the sector, to unveil the winners. Chaired by interior designer Birgit Schnaase, it selected an all-category winner, 7 winners in each category and 23 special mentions. While the equipment selected is representative of the trends on board the boats, the 2019 edition of the DAME Award did not bring out any major innovations. This competition remains first and foremost a showcase for yachting equipment manufacturers.

7 nautical innovations in the spotlight
One winner was designated for each category of the competition. Seven marine equipment manufacturers have been crowned:
- Marine electronics and related software : Garmin for its beacon / GPSMAP 86i manual GPSMAP
- Interior equipment, furniture, material and electrical equipment used in the cabins : Lumitec for its flexible lighting device
- Deck equipment, Sails, Rigging : Karver for its compact winch and crank handle
- Clothing and accessories for the crew: Mustang for its dungarees jacket set
- Rescue and safety equipment : USafe for its rescue drone
- Machinery, propulsion, mechanical and electrical systems and equipment : Garmin and Navico are tied for the Force and Ghost electric motors.
- Equipment for marinas and shipyards, building materials : Lignia Wood for its alternative teak siding
