Genoa Boat Show: The recovery is confirmed

Genoa Boat Show 2018

The Genoa Boat Show is showing its optimism for 2019. More boats and exhibitors carried by a growing Italian yachting sector. The competition is back in the Mediterranean with the new version of the Cannes Yachting Festival.

Presentation of the Genoa 2019 Boat Show

UCINA, the Italian union of water sports professionals and the event organizers presented the 59th edition of the Genoa Boat Show on 4 June 2019. The Italian yachting event will be held from 19 to 24 September 2019. This new edition marks the continuation of the renewal of the show that began a few years ago, after several difficult editions. "The Salone Nautico's organizing machine is 26% ahead of last year, an element that confirms that companies have already scheduled their participation in the show since last year, an essential platform for business development. We can say that we have already reached 100% of the target set," says Alessandro Campagna, commercial director of the Genoa event.

Increase of the motor sail

All sectors of the show see their demand for exhibition space increase:

  • 28% for yachts and superyachts
  • 48% for sailboats whose sizes continue to increase
  • 73% for outboards
  • 35% for equipment

Foreign brands are showing interest in the Italian market, accounting for 48% of the increase in requests.

For organisational reasons, only 3% more brands will be welcomed, thanks to an extension of the pontoons and the optimisation of land spaces.

The Italian boating industry in good shape

At the press conference, Carla Demaria, President of UCINA, also recalled the encouraging figures of the Italian boating industry. It grew by +9.5% in 2018. 63% of Italian yachting companies anticipate an increase in their turnover in 2019. The health of the show and the transalpine industry are boosting Mediterranean dynamics, at a time when the French rival of the Cannes Yachting Festival is reinventing itself to try to welcome more boats and visitors.
