NINA Awards: The nautical innovation competition launches regional selections

Batho, a company that reuses used boats, won the 2018 Nina Awards

The NINA Awards for Nautical Innovation and Novelty Awards are intended for start-ups and innovative companies in the yachting sector. The competition continues its development in 2019 and launches a series of regional selections before the Paris final. Concept and practical information.

Rewarding innovation in boating

The NINA association, for Nautisme Innovation Numérique Atlantique, was created in Nantes and brings together professionals from the yachting world. After a test in 2014 and a successful edition in 2018, it reorganizes the NINA Awards in 2019. The prizes will reward companies and innovative projects in the water sports and yachting industry. In 2018, the winner was batho, a company that recycles used boats into outdoor accommodation on land an ecological alternative to the dismantling of end-of-life sailboats and motor units.

Regional selections

Initially very much rooted in the Pays de la Loire region because of the origin of the association We are NINA, the competition aims to take on a national dimension. In 2019, 3 regional selections are planned and more could be added. The first one took place during the Arcachon boat show. Two others are planned in Nantes during the Mer XXL event and during the Grand Pavois in La Rochelle.

As in 2018, the Paris Boat Show will host the national final. Companies from all over France, selected by the jury and the public, will present their projects on the Nautic stage.

Information about the competition can be found on the Nina association's website or by email at concours@wearenina.fr.
