A wide range of epoxy resins
Following METS Trade 2018, Rock-based marine distributor and antifouling paint manufacturer Soromap, announced it has taken over distribution of the West System and Pro-Set epoxy resin ranges. Developed by the American company Gougeon Brothers, the products are manufactured under license by the British company Wessex Resins for the European market. Well known to the general public, the West System brand is widely used by amateur builders and maintenance sites. The Pro-Set range is more dedicated to the manufacture of high-end infusion boats. It has been used by the American Oracle challenge for the America's Cup.
A real epoxy product for Soromap
The arrival of West System and Pro-Set products in Soromap's offer is coherent with the development of the group from La Rochelle, explains its general manager Grégory Florin. "It is consistent with Soromap's strategy. We were missing a "real" epoxy product in addition to our Milesi offer for wooden furniture. We will reintroduce West System resins in franchised and independent retail stores. With the Pro-Set range, more intended for boat building, masts and industry for high-end parts, we will be able to find new customers, preparers or builders of racing yachts."
An agreement between the nautical industry
Soromap, solicited by Wessex Resins, takes over the West System card from AGL Marine in France. There is no exclusivity and Directeck also remains a distributor of the resins in France. Grégory Florin explains the British manufacturer's interest by Soromap's industrial know-how. "France is a strategic market for Wessex Resins, but it is difficult with the presence of the French Sicomin, which is well established. They came to us because they were interested in our industrial knowledge, as an antifouling producer (Editor's note: In the antifouling field, AGL is a pure multi-brand distributor). They are looking for local technical support
