Volvo Car embarks on the Nautic
The Swedish car manufacturer Volvo Car becomes a partner of the Paris Nautic. The company is committed for a period of 3 years. It will exhibit its vehicles at the boat show, provide a Volvo fleet for VIP transfers and sponsor major events.
Baltic Yachts wants to buy Cantieri di Pisa
The Finnish luxury yacht specialist Baltic Yachts has made an offer to buy Cantieri di Pisa for 3 million euros. The acquisition of the bankrupt Tuscan shipyard would allow the Scandinavian company to gain a foothold in the motor yacht market through a brand with a rich history in the sector.
Armorique Diffusion inaugurates its Trinity site
Armorique Diffusion will inaugurate its new premises in La Trinité-sur-mer on 28 June 2018. The new owner of the Bénéteau dealership in the sector is applying the strategy he explained to BoatIndustry when he took over the company. An Accastillage Diffusion shop will also be open.
Centrale Nantes joins forces with Australians for 3D naval printing
Centrale Nantes, an engineering school with a strong presence in the maritime field, is associated with the Australian research centre in Flinders (Flinders Centre for Nanoscale, Science and Technology and Centre for Maritime Engineering, Control and Imaging). Through exchanges of students and researchers, the two institutions will work on the use of nanocomposites to improve the strength of propeller blades, reduce noise and corrosion while limiting production costs compared to traditional metal fabrication. A second joint program is focused on additive 3D printing of polymer-metal mixed materials in marine applications.
20 years of CEFCM
The European Centre for Continuing Maritime Training (CEFCM) in Concarneau is celebrating its 20th anniversary. The institution, which offers training courses for professional sailors and yachting professions, is organising exhibitions and events on 30 June and 2 July 2018.
