Suzuki Marine reorganizes production
Japanese engine manufacturer Suzuki Marine has announced the transfer of outboard engine production from its Tokoyama plant to the nearby Kosai plant in Japan's Shizuoka province. The investment is estimated at $34 million and the site will be operational by August 2018. The objective of the Japanese company is to improve the efficiency of its industrial process and increase the volume of engines produced. The new site, previously dedicated to car manufacturing, will help meet the growing demand for high-powered outboard engines.
Nauticat files for bankruptcy
The Finnish shipyard Nauticat Yachts Oy has announced that it has filed for bankruptcy. Founded more than 50 years ago, he was one of the most renowned builders of fifty-foot sailing yachts. The Nauticat 33, launched in 1968, sold almost 1300 copies.
Abys Yachting inaugurates its St-Tropez office
Abys Yachting, distributor in France of the Italian motor boats Ferretti, Pershing, Mochi Craft and Custom Line, opened on June 2nd, 2018 its 3rd office. Located in Saint-Tropez, it completes the Antibes and Monaco agencies.
Partnership between FFVoile and the PACA region
On the occasion of the opening of the World Cup Series in Marseille on June 5th, the meeting place for Olympic sailing, the French Sailing Federation and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region signed a partnership agreement. With a sum of more than 350,000 euros for 2018, the resources allocated by the agreement will enable the acquisition of equipment and the general financing of the Pôle France de voile, while giving a boost to sailing in Marseille before the 2024 Olympics in the Mediterranean port.
ICOMIA signs an agreement with IBEX
ICOMIA, the federation of the world's professional nautical unions, has signed a partnership with the American BtoB trade show IBEX. This agreement is intended to continue the process already underway with METS, whose owner is now also the head of IBEX. The aim is to encourage the yachting industry worldwide to enter the US market.
