Greenline Yachts accepts Bitcoin
While the debate on cryptomonnaies is intense throughout the economic world, after the vertiginous fall of Bitcoin in December 2017, they are settling in the nautical landscape. After royal Yacht Brokers in October 2017 it is the turn of the biggest Slovenian boat builder to accept the motto. SVP Yachts announced at the Boot 2018 in Dusseldorf that its customers could settle their boats in Bitcoins. The SVP Yachts group includes the pioneering hybrid motor yachts, Greenline Yachts, the luxury carbon sailboats Shipman and the monotype sailboat L30.
Disrupting the boating industry
Vladimir Zinchenko, CEO of SVP Yachts, is enthusiastic about this decision. "At SVP Yachts, we believe that the only constant thing in life is change and as our company works hard for technological development in order to sustain our fun time on the water, we also follow and encourage technological development and disruption in other industries. Financial markets are experiencing a revolution with the blockchain and we believe in the principles of this truly disruptive technology. That is why we will accept Bitcoin as payment for orders from 20 January 2018, marking the opening of the world's largest boat show."
A trend?
SVP Yachts is the first major boat builder to move to cryptomonnaies. Is the trend likely to expand in the boating industry? As for brokers, this is currently the market for high-end products.
