Southern Spars closes South Africa branch
The New Zealand mast manufacturer Southern Spars, also present in Europe, the United States and Sri Lanka, will close its subsidiary in South Africa. The majority of employees are expected to leave the company by mid-December 2017. Southern Spars South Africa will then complete all outstanding orders in reduced manpower. The departure of Southern Spars is part of a difficult South African nautical market which has already seen many redundancies in major shipyards.
Schenker and Raymarine join forces
Watermaker manufacturer Schenker has partnered with Raymarine for remote product management. Raymarine's new touch screen control will manage the freshwater production of Schenker equipment. The interface box between the two systems will be sold as an option by Schenker with its watermakers.
Zodiac opens an office in Vietnam
Zodiac Nautic announced the opening of a regional office in Ho Chi Minh City. This office, responsible for sales in the Asia Pacific region, should strengthen the brand in a fast-growing market. Patrick Bloch, in charge of the new site, is pleased with this implementation. Big Ship opens a new logistics platform
On 16 October 2017, the Big Ship plant opened a new 3500 m² logistics platform located in the Beligon industrial zone in Rochefort. This investment should enable the development of the Big Ship store network in France.
