A new plan to follow the evolution of yachting
At its meeting on 7 April 2017, the SEMIDEP-Ciotat Board of Directors approved the first elements of a new strategic action plan. Based on the results of a study launched by SEMIDEP in summer 2016, on the economic environment and the needs of the ciotaden site, the new document should serve as a reference point for the company's action in the coming years.
To become a world reference in the support of very large yachts, La Ciotat relies on three main complementary axes:
- continue to develop the site's reception capacities
- the creation of an industrial and technological expertise centre dedicated to the yachting environment
- improve the demanding customer services of yachting.
A 4000 T boat lift
After having renovated and adapted the large form to the yachting market, the development of the capacities of reception passes by the construction of a new elevator with boats of 4000 T, that is to say the double of that existing. It will allow the constant increase in vessel size to be monitored. Delivery of the equipment is scheduled for the fall of 2021, with work beginning in 2019.
A business village
In order to promote the pole of technical excellence wanted by SEMIDEP, the manager of the port will build workshops for the subcontractors of the site. Leased on favourable economic terms, they will be grouped together in a business village in the Calanques area. These new infrastructures will help meet the growing demand and develop local employment. The schedule of the operation is not fixed, the real estate project must be validated with the public partners owners of the site.
