A Brazilian carpenter who became a French navy carpenter
In 2003, Samuel Zambaldi arrived in France from his native Brazil as a carpenter. It was at the Tours shipyard that he began to work on the marine structure, even if it was then rather fluvial, with the maintenance of the Loire navy. He then entered training at the BIB shipyard in La Trinité sur Mer and passed his professional certificate at the Lobrichon shipyard in Baden.
In 2010, with a degree in hand, Samuel Zambaldi launched himself as an independent marine carpenter.
Classic marine frame
Over the years, the marine carpentry activity develops and Samuel Zambaldi can hire. He now has 3 employees: 1 carpenter, 1 cabinetmaker and 1 carpenter. The team deals with about ten boats a year, for yards of very variable sizes, ranging from a few hours of work to several thousand.
Mainly oriented towards the repair of pleasure boats, the activity is divided homogeneously between 3 sectors: traditional boats, beautiful yachts and modern boats requiring the maintenance of wooden parts. Housed in the AB Yachting yard, the Charpentier Marine Morbihan entity can treat in covered sheds, units up to 15 metres, or even more on land.
Launch of Morbihan Wood Rigging
The construction of wooden spars started in 2013 for Samuel Zambaldi and his team. From 2 to 3 masts per year at the beginning, the company now makes about ten each year. "These are really interesting and comprehensive projects. There is an architectural, historical and stylistic work, validated with naval architects. We also work on standing and running rigging and design, manufacture and install fittings. The choice of varnishes is also essential."
Preparation of wooden spars
Samuel Zambaldi wishes to develop this activity which is growing with the delivery of a complete rig for a 17 meter schooner in the Mediterranean. He therefore decided to create this year Grigement Bois Morbihan, a dedicated structure with its own website. A fine example that this Brazilian craftsman who maintains the traditional trades in France.
