Jean Le Cam launches his business incubator for ocean racing

After the Vendée Globe, Jean Le Cam's Finistère Mer Vent project became an economic adventure with the launch of a structure to welcome new companies and develop the offshore racing sector in Port La Forêt.

Logical continuation of the Vendée Globe

It all started with the mobilization of partners to enable Jean Le Cam to participate in the 2016 Vendée Globe. The Breton skipper's Mer Vent company and Crédit Agricole du Finistère have joined forces to launch Finistère Mer Vent and bring together sponsors. " Since then, we have largely overtaken the Vendée Globe, which has made it possible to launch the Finistère Mer Vent "brand". "assures Anne Le Cam, the sailor's wife. Beyond the funds for Jean Le Cam's round the world race, the structure now wants to pursue the unifying logic and support the establishment of new offshore racing companies in Port La Forêt.

Create a collective dynamic

Finistère Mer Vent is now a Cooperative Society of Collective Interest (SCIC), a status that perfectly suits its objectives, explains Anne Le Cam. " We don't want to develop our stuff in our own corner, just for ourselves. That's why the SCIC is perfect. "The aim is not to compete with the boating professionals present on the spot, but to be a complement and welcome new companies by taking advantage of the port's infrastructures.

The institutions are also very involved, at the level of the city of Port La Forêt, the community of municipalities of the Pays Fouesnantais and the department of Finistère.

First companies at the end of 2017

Beyond the legal creation, Finistère Mer Vent is preparing its concrete future. First premises for service companies will be available between the end of 2017 and the beginning of 2018. SCIC is also working on the provision of land for production companies.

All installation projects will be reviewed by a selection committee, composed of CICS members.
