8 Pre-selected projects
The French Tech Rennes St Malo launched in November a call for applications for all nautical start-ups wishing to participate in the 2nd edition of the Winch Pitch competition. 8 companies were selected among the 15 applications received, to come and publicly present their ideas (or pitcher in the jargon of start-ups) during the Paris Boat Show. The lucky ones selected come from all over France and intervene in different sectors of the nautical industry:
- Bepeho (13), video system dedicated to the race
- Cityzen data (29), data collection and processing system from various sensors
- Ektacom (29), video management solutions
- Ersya (33), ergonomics and human factors in complex systems
- Ino-Rope (29), technical fittings
- Navily (06), community coastal guide
- Syci (35), 3D boat interior design solution
- Synergiz (35), interface and connected objects
A professional jury
The competition jury will be chaired by Gilles Lamiré (skipper of the trimaran La French Tech Rennes St Malo) accompanied by Lalou Roucayrol (skipper of Team Arkema), Victorien Erussard (Energy Observer) and Servane Escoffier (BG Race). The group of sailors will be completed by the Winch Pitch n°1 winner, Yann Amice from Weather'n'co, specialising in ultra-local weather.
One year trial for the winners
The jury will choose 2 winning start-ups who will be able to experiment their products during one year on the trimaran French Tech Rennes St-Malo skippered by Gilles Lamiré.
A way to federate the sector
Asked about the interest of such a contest, Florent Vilbert of the French Tech Rennes St-Malo indicates that it fulfills a double objective. It is both a technological interest for the trimaran it sponsors, but also to fulfil the mission of animating the network of start-ups, in particular the nautical industry, which is the basis of the French Tech label.
Practical Winch Pitch
The presentation of the projects will take place at the Espace Bretagne du Nautic, on December 7, 2016 at 4pm. It will be followed by the Best-Of des Start-Up nautiques Bretagne, produced in partnership with the French Tech Brest.
