D3EPACA will take care of the wrecks of the Metropole Aix-Marseille

Boat deconstruction by D3EPACA

The company D3EPACA has won the tender launched by the metropolis of Aix-Marseille for the deconstruction of abandoned ships in its ports. An interesting market for a company wishing to develop the recovery of marine waste.

An important deposit

The Metropolis of Aix Marseille manages 24 marinas on the coast between Sausset les Pins and La Ciotat. The set totals 8600 rings. The study conducted by D3EPACA estimates between 1 and 2% of wrecks on the Mediterranean coast as a whole, and 5% of owners in arrears, no longer able to maintain it or pay for the berth. The Marseilles market, with a duration of 4 years, is valued by the company at 200 € k?.

Full service

Within the framework of the phocéen call for tender, D3EPACA, joined forces with partners to ensure the whole of the services required by the marinas of the agglomeration. Once the abandoned boat has been identified, the harbour master submits a service request to D3EPACA. An audit is then made to establish an estimate. If necessary, a service provider will refloat the wreck and remove the water. It is then transported to the holder's platform, which ensures the decontamination, dismantling and sorting of all the equipment. The hull is finally destroyed by a partner. All waste is treated by specialized service providers, ensuring the necessary follow-up.

D3EPACA adds value to all recoverable equipment at its used deck fittings site.

A boat pound

In accordance with the market, a boat pound has been set up. New innovative service, it allows the port to store on land the vessel for which all the steps authorising the destruction have not yet been completed. The harbourmaster's office is thus freeing up berths for waiting boaters.

A springboard for business development

The Aix-Marseille metropolis market is a good development opportunity for D3EPACA. It allows the company to be known in the captains' offices and thus to reach by word of mouth the private customers, owners of boats at the end of their life. The file will also be accessible to the various players in the sector to understand the successes and difficulties encountered during the market.

While D3EPACA had been processing 1 boat a day for 1.5 years, it is expected to deconstruct 2 a day in September. Its turnover of ?1.5 million, 60% of which in the treatment of boats should reach ?2.5 million in 2017, driven by the nautical sector.

Other projects are to come for the Provençal company, which wishes to extend its activity to all Mediterranean regions, with eventually a possible platform in Occitania. In a shorter term, D3EPACA should apply for another contract for Port-Camargue.
