Annual update
Every year, the American Boat and Yacht Council publishes an update of its standards and technical information bulletins dedicated to pleasure craft in the US. Supplement 56 for the year 2016-2017 is now available.
ABYC is publishing 15 new standards this year, twice as many as last year.
Main new features
In response to the increase in fatal accidents related to the overloading of the upper decks of vessels, the association issued Amendment H-5. The text now deals with upper decks regardless of the length of the boat.
Revision E-10 deals with the testing of used batteries and related restrictions.
Revision A-27 focuses on storage batteries and increases the requirements to keep pace with the evolution of AC generator technology.
