A complement to the new Verado 400 R
Mercury launched its most powerful four-stroke outboard engine in February, the Verado 400 R, delivering 153 hp per litre based on its existing 2.6L platform. It is equipped with the Sportmaster base, characterized by a low water intake to improve performance, already used in competition. The new Max 5 propeller is designed to further optimize the model.
Reduce slippage
The performance of fast boats is generally limited by the propeller's slip, the difference between its theoretical pitch and the boat's actual advance. The new 5-blade Max 5 propeller, specially designed by the Mercury Racing Propeller Lab, allows the manufacturer to reduce the phenomenon whatever the installation (single or multi-engine), up to 12% in certain applications.
A wide choice of steps
The new propeller, with a diameter of 15 inches, is available for pitch from 23 to 34 inches. The 1/2 inch gap between each model allows a precise choice to optimize thrust, fuel consumption and maximum speed. The propellers benefit from Mercury's patented Performance Vent System (PVS) which allows fine adjustment of propeller ventilation for faster planning.
