Interview / Numarine distributed in France through a dealer network

French Boat Market has taken over the distribution of the Turkish shipyard Numarine. The opportunity to ask some questions to his leader Lionel Vergnes.

With French Boat Market, Numarine has just found a distributor for France. The Turkish yard has joined forces with this distribution specialist, who already represents the following brands:

  • Galeon
  • Nuova Jolly
  • Scout Boats
  • Pursuit
  • Galia

We asked Lionel Vergnes, director, to explain his positioning with the arrival of this new brand.

Why did you choose to import Numarine?

Numarine manufactures units from 60 feet to 130 feet (40 m). The Galéon brand, which we also import, stops at 60 feet. It is therefore a logical continuation to complete our offer.

Numarine, created nearly 15 years ago, is one of the 5 largest European shipyards in the category with a capacity to produce 50 boats per year in a 35,000 m2 factory including all trades, including carpentry, glass and stainless steel work.

Moreover, we realized that in France, the supply of sport-yacht between 60 and 70 feet is quite poor. Hence the desire to position itself on this market.

What are the characteristics of Numarine?

What characterizes Numarine, before the quality/equipment/price ratio, are very modern deck plans with beautiful convivial spaces at the front, exteriors on a single level giving a feeling of terraces all around the boat as well as an exterior and interior styling signature very contemporary and high-end that we do not find in the competition.

Numarine offers boats ready to sail. That is to say that for the standard price announced to the customer, he will have a full-option unit: air conditioning, generator, front and rear windlass... until antifouling! He will not have to provide an additional cheque to equip his boat.

This offers two advantages. The first is to keep a credible second-hand resale price since there is no need to justify the purchase price in addition to the option price. But also not to fool a customer by making him promise a unit at 1.5 million and to add 300,000 euros of options.

And how are boats characterized?

Numarine offers a beautiful quality of finish, exactly in the line of Galeon. The customer has the choice to customize his materials, their color..

The traditional polyester construction incorporates modern techniques: infusion for hulls and decks, glued and screwed counter mould, laminated sandwich partitioning with composite reinforcements such as carbon/kevlar in the most strategic places. A quality of construction which allows the yard to offer a structural guarantee of 10 years and to be with the standards of quality Iso 9001.

But especially Numarine is very well placed in price. This is, I think, today the best value for money since I remind you that we deliver a boat ready to sail.

Given the size of the boats to be delivered and their price, you will work directly with customers?

For 25 years I have believed in the relevance of a distribution network, I am not going to change today. This model does not only work for small boats, it is also relevant for larger ones. Look at Jeanneau, its Prestige range is sold at dealerships.

Of course, network quality is a strength. We have to impose operating rules, but it works!

And it's good for the end customer. He buys a boat in his port from a local contact, able to intervene quickly if necessary.

What are the projects of the Numarine shipyard?

Currently the yard is developing a range called Explorer, boats that offer sufficient autonomy to make a transatlantic with a lot of volume and comfort. Three models are available: 24, 32 and 40 metres. And the 32 XP is already under construction. We'll talk about it again..
